Been doing some great shoots over the past few months. I’ve been pushing myself at retouching, at lighting, and composing in the camera. Working with a team cannot be underestimated. When a photographers job is reduced from doing the styling, make up, hair, modelling, shooting and retouching down to just the shooting and retouching it provides an enormous relief. I have focused more of myself into those areas and have let the team deal with their own specialties. By doing that I’m increasing my awareness of what I’m creating and I can see improvements to my work.
Working in bigger teams there’s more of an atmosphere on set. We all liaise together to create a feeling in the shots. Last week I worked with a very talented stylist Antonescu Andreea. Although her primary focus is make up, she clearly has a vision for the whole look. She worked with her fellow Stylist Ella Huang on the clothing to create something called ‘Club Kidz meets Punk’. The title (and final images) show a very distinctive reference set. Focusing on this 80-90′s style grunge only with mega bright colours and lighting gels to bring it into fashion today. Actually, all meshed up it has this alien/clown/punk/fashion vibe that comes off creepy in your face. I really like where it’s at.
